Home Intercom

The home intercom system for home comes in wireless form to ensure great residential security.

A home intercom can be a necessary component of any home security system so that you can better protect yourself and your family.  Through this type of arrangement you can communicate with anyone attempting to gain access to your house, so that you know who’s at the door before you open it.  But that’s not the only application for home intercoms.  They can also be useful assets for communicating with multiple floors or rooms so that you can better contact anyone in the house no matter where they may be.  This type of device will make your life easier by adding an extra layer of security and convenience to any residence.

The first thing you’ll need to decide is the type of home intercoms that will suit your needs the best.  There are two main types, hardwired and wireless.  Wireless systems are the easiest to set up, as they are battery operated and feature their own radio frequency for transmitting between one another.  They can be great for establishing security so that you know who’s at you your door at all times.  But what’s more, they can also be great for communicating with any other area of your home.  Plus the only installation that’s required is simply mounting the intercoms in the desired placements.

A hardwired system has extra advantages however, that wireless home intercoms lack.  For one, they can be tied into your existing alarm system, or installed alongside.  This enables you to provide an extra layer of security by being able to trip the alarm should someone be trying to break into your home.  Plus you can connect a huge network of intercoms all throughout your home so that you may communicate with any floor or room.  Plus you don’t have to worry about the batteries running low, because hardwired home intercoms are tied into your power source, so they are always ready to go.

But perhaps another option you may want to consider with any home intercoms, is whether or not they feature video surveillance.  You can’t always guarantee someone is who they say they are, but receiving visual confirmation can afford you an extra level of security you wouldn’t have otherwise.  There are several different types of home intercoms that feature video as well as audio.  This provides for you the ability to see anyone you’re talking to, to confirm their identity before opening your door.

When you’re looking to buy home intercoms, you can find affordable options practically everywhere.  The best places to go will include hardware stores, and also electronics stores as they have the best specialized models for home use.  Some good stores include Home Depot, RadioShack, and even a store like Target.  All will have options for audio only, or video enabled home intercoms.  Typically you can expect to pay around $40 to $50 for a basic system, with wireless options being slightly more expensive.  For video, you can expect to pay double to triple the price however, because of the extra technology required.
